Contact: the command given to start those magnificent flying machines of a hundred years ago. You couldn’t begin to fly until you’d firmly given the command “contact” and received the affirmative reply “contact.” Then--and only then--the prop was pulled confidently, engaging the engine. With great excitement, you could move down the runway, pull the throttle full, raise the flaps and fly!
